Russia has once again criticized the "unprecedented coordinated" media campaign waged by the West, claiming that it aims to distort the image of its just demands for security guarantees in Europe.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today, carried by TASS news agency: “The global media field witnessed in late 2021 and early 2022 an unprecedented media campaign in terms of coordination and preparation aimed at convincing world public opinion that Russia is preparing to attack Ukraine.”

The Foreign Ministry indicated that it had collected a file of “false material from the Western media, which is considered evidence of a coordinated media campaign against Moscow aimed at thwarting and distorting the image of Russia’s just demands for security guarantees and justifying Western geopolitical ambitions and military deployment on the territory of Ukraine.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry explained that the authorities of Western countries and the media conspired to inflame the fabricated tensions around Ukraine, pointing out that the media, contrary to the standards of fair journalism, publish flagrant misinformation and manipulation in order to introduce the thesis of Moscow's "aggressive" intentions into public opinion, while at the same time ignoring the detailed and justified explanations of Russian officials. In particular, the repeated assurances of Russia's commitment to reach a peaceful diplomatic settlement of the crisis in Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk package of measures.

And Western media had claimed earlier today that Moscow had decided to "invade Ukrainian lands."

In the same context, the German government’s press office revealed in a statement today that discussions took place between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, during which they expressed their commitment to collective imposition of “swift and significant” sanctions on Russia, citing Possible violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

The statement spoke at the same time about the importance of preventing a war in Europe.
