Schnapszahl Day, February 22, 2022: rush to registry offices

The 22.2.22 has an enormous attraction for many people who want to get married.

The date brought a huge rush to the registry offices in the district.

Fürstenfeldbruck – Sometimes there are no more appointments.

A young couple from Germering also chose the day for their wedding – for numerical and personal reasons.

Lena Kirmaier and her fiancé Fernando Schiltz want to say yes on February 22nd.

For this we go to the old town hall of Fürstenfeldbruck.

The two didn't just choose the date because it was beautiful, says Lena Kirmaier.

"It also has a personal value for us." Because: "Everything is coming up to the 22", says Fernando Schiltz.

On November 22, 2018, the bride-to-be and her groom got together.

Also, both are 22 years old.

During the corona-related long search for a wedding date, February 22nd, 2022 seemed perfect.

Ten weddings in the old town hall

A total of ten couples want to marry the two of them in the Old Town Hall on this Schnapszahl day.

The Brucker registry office is fully booked.

The demand is as strong on this February day as in summer.

For comparison: "On a Friday in the wedding season there can be nine to ten weddings," explains registry office manager Petra Oswald.

The fact that this Tuesday in February is now so in demand can be traced back to the special date with a high degree of probability.

"It's definitely unusual for this time of year," says Petra Oswald.

Dates magically attract couples

At least four couples have chosen this special day in Germering as well.

"That's a lot for a Tuesday," says Christiane Eschenweck, head of the registry office.

In general, the demand for such data is increasing.

Bridal couples usually choose the number combination because the combination is very rare, the registrar knows from previous Schnapszahl weddings.

The Germering registry office keeps an eye on weekdays on which a wedding is usually expected, but which fall on a special date.

Christiane Eschenweck then shares the various marriages with her colleagues – also on February 22nd.

"In the wedding speech we usually go into this special day," says the registrar.

Olching unlocks extra

"On Tuesdays we don't actually have a wedding in the registry office," says Martina Sohn, spokeswoman for the city of Olching.

But at the request of a wedding couple who consciously decided on this day, a wedding ceremony in Olching is made possible this year.

Exactly one wedding will take place on February 22nd in the Alling registry office.

In Puchheim there are two, says the registrar Martin Lehner.

"With other Schnaps numbers, however, there have already been more marriages, especially if the date falls in the summer months."

Only a few cakes because of Corona

Whether it's summer or winter, the pastry shops provide sweets with a wedding cake.

Also this year, on Schnapszahl Day.

But there is more peace here: "The season hasn't started yet," says Martin Wiedemann, head of the café of the same name in Fürstenfeldbruck.

This year he has a cake order on February 22nd, just like junior boss Lena Ganser in the Olchinger Café Ganser and the cake fairy Alling.

"We actually had more requests for the Schnapszahl date," reports Tortenfee boss Barbara Sedlmayr.

Due to the corona restrictions, however, almost all of them were canceled again.
