Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu called on the West to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine and work to reduce tension over the worsening crisis in that country.
During his meeting with British Defense Minister Ben Wallace in Moscow today, Shoigu said, "The political-military situation in Europe is becoming more and more tense, not because of Russia at all, nor do we understand in some cases the reason for the escalation of these tensions," noting that arms exports to Ukraine are open and from all sides. .
In this regard, Shoigu recalled the unfortunate experience of pumping weapons to some countries, including Afghanistan, where NATO left weapons and military equipment worth nearly 80 billion dollars last year, noting that these weapons, including anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, pose a danger today, especially in light of the high number of elements The terrorist organization (ISIS) is in this country.
Shoigu pointed out that the level of cooperation between Russia and Britain has deteriorated sharply in recent years and is close to zero, expressing Moscow's regret in this regard and because of the threatening statements of British officials and the imposition of sanctions on his country.
Shoigu had announced on the 21st of last month his readiness to discuss all current issues related to the security field with his British counterpart Ben Wallace.
