(CNN Spanish) --
The second office of the First Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Corruption Crimes of Officials in Lima carried out a search and search of the address this Friday for the purpose of seizing the Government Palace and 14 other properties linked to the investigation by the alleged direction in the acquisition of biodiesel B100, by Petroperú, in favor of a private company.
In its Twitter account, the Public Ministry indicated that according to the investigation, Petroperú officials "would have colluded and/or were unduly interested" in order to favor a company in the award of the B100 biodiesel acquisition process.
The fiscal hypothesis maintains that the event would have been coordinated in a series of irregularities "whose deployment would be due to alleged collusive agreements that would have been conceived on October 18, 2021 in the presidential office."
In a statement issued in December 2021, Petroperú indicated that its general manager, Hugo Chávez Arévalo, met on October 18 of that year with the country's president, Pedro Castillo, and that other officials and guests did not participate.
According to the state company, the meeting discussed its participation in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market and the actions that could be implemented to increase its participation, guaranteeing more competitive prices.
In another statement from January of this year, they indicated that they are collaborating with the entities in charge of the investigation and affirmed that they will comply with the recommendations and/or corrective actions that result.
As a result of this, the Prosecutor's Office opened a preliminary investigation against Castillo as a participant on January 4.
The president denied having met with the businessman who would have benefited and that tenders were discussed at the Government Palace.
Castillo cannot be charged during his term because he enjoys constitutional immunity.
