(CNN) --

An Illinois woman who was being held hostage in her own home was rescued after her daughter noticed she hadn't sent in her Wordle score and alerted local authorities.

Denyse Holt, 80, told CNN affiliate WBBM that a naked man entered her Lincolnwood home, dragged her through the house, disconnected the phone lines and eventually locked her in a bathroom, where she remained for about 17 hours.

"I didn't think I was going to survive," he told the station.

Lincolnwood police officers went to see the homeowner Sunday night after receiving a call from her concerned daughter that she hadn't heard from her, the Police Department said in a statement.

The town of Lincolnwood is about 15 miles northwest of Chicago.

Her daughter, who was in Seattle, told the station that she noticed her mother wasn't reading her text messages and hadn't sent her her usual Wordle updates.

"I didn't send my oldest daughter a Wordle in the morning and that threw her off," Holt told WBBM.

Responding officers saw a broken window in the home and eventually located the owner being held in the basement, according to the release.

Officers determined that she was not physically injured, she added.

They found the suspect on the second floor of the house armed with several knives and, after attempting to arrest him, called for more forces to help arrest him, according to the statement.

The suspect was taken into custody early Monday morning and taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Police said the suspect likely removed his clothes early Sunday during what investigators believe was a mental health crisis, before breaking into the home.
