Spring is gradually approaching, Unterhachinger herb gardeners have little time.

Namely insofar as they still do not have a suitable area for their voluntary project before the possible start of the gardening season.

Therefore a call for help: garden wanted!

Unterhaching

– For five years, until 2021, there was the Unterhaching herb garden on Finsinger Weg.

Originally started as an integrative project in which refugees could help out in the garden and grow local spices, over the years more and more seniors have joined them, looking for new social contacts in this way.

A year ago the bad news

Almost exactly a year ago, the property owner announced that she would like to use the area for other purposes.

Since then, the loose group of herb gardeners has been looking for a new garden.

So far without success.

“We are a group of young and older, committed people who garden responsibly and enjoy being in nature.

We want to plan, dig, weed, sow, plant and of course harvest together again," say Grete Fikentscher and Dagmar Schobert-Schäfer, the two bosses of the group.

"We will only use organic seeds for this, use no inorganic fertilizers and no pesticides and want to till the garden by hand."

Some have jumped

Up to 30 people have played along in the past, some have since dropped out, but a hard core has stayed.

But nothing works without a garden.

"The old property was brilliant," says Dagmar Schobert-Schäfer.

"If we could get a garden area of around 200 square meters, that would be perfect." A water connection "would be a luxury, but it's not a must".

Because that didn't exist in the old herb garden either.

The Develey company made water tubs available there, which were filled up by the fire brigade.

"There will be no celebrations, we just want to garden together," emphasize the initiators.

Her urgent request to be able to start again this spring after a year's break: "Who can provide us with a larger garden area or mediate it?" Grete Fikentscher is happy to be contacted (e-mail: Grete.fikentscher@posteo.de ) and Dagmar Schobert-Schäfer (ds-s@gmx.net or Tel. 089 / 6376228).
