They are 7,000 to be on deck until Monday. Police and gendarmes will continue to enforce the order issued by the prefect of poli

Since Friday evening, the police headquarters has been in turmoil.

Objective: to thwart the plans of the demonstrators of the French-style “Convoi de la Liberté” inspired by the Canadian movement and who wanted to block the capital.

7,000 police and gendarmes were thus mobilized at the gates of Paris.

Others carried out checks upstream of the device, at the tolls.

Vigilance will remain in order this Sunday and until Monday morning since the goal of the "Freedom Convoys" is to reach Brussels on February 14th.

“We are not particularly afraid of the arrival of new “Convoys”, delivers a source.

Some will hang around Paris and certainly try to reform.

Blocked, the demonstrators often had to continue on foot, as on the Champs-Élysées, where "the face changed during the day", according to a police source.

Composed mainly of yellow vests and antivax, the procession was joined a little later by members of the Ultra left, in particular black blocks passed under the radars of the DRPP (intelligence directorate of the Paris police headquarters ).

A surprise but no breakage.

Elsewhere, significant numbers of protesters converging on Paris found themselves stranded at Porte de Champerret and Porte d'Auteuil.

A procession was stopped on the A4 motorway before arriving at Bercy and had to turn around, heading east.

Windows broken by police against the offense of obstruction

But on the Champs-Élysées, the mission of the police was to prevent access to the Arc de Triomphe to prevent a ransacking of the monument like that of December 2018 from happening again.

On several occasions, the demonstrators tried to make breakthroughs.

In vain.

Two trucks that were parked on the most beautiful avenue in the world were removed thanks to the tow truck of the national gendarmerie engaged in this demonstration.

In addition, officers were also forced to smash car windows to get out motorists who refused to move.

“When the offense of obstruction is constituted, we have the right to break windows”, explains a police source.

In this case, the drivers are placed in police custody and risk 1 year in prison and a fine of 7,500 euros.

Images of police breaking windows have also turned on social networks.

This Saturday, the demonstrations were numerous in the streets of the capital with a dozen processions, all causes combined, including six parades concerning the vaccination pass.
