The Canadian government announced the temporary closure of its embassy in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, and the transfer of its activities to an office in Lviv, in the west of the country.
"We will resume activities at the embassy in Kiev as soon as the security situation in Ukraine allows us to ensure adequate services and adequate security for our staff," Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said today in a statement.
Jolie called on Canadians to continue to avoid traveling to Ukraine and called on those currently in the country to leave.
And many countries have recommended their nationals to avoid traveling to or leave Ukraine due to the allegations made by the West about the possibility of a Russian attack on it.
