Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir has tested positive for Covid-19 from a family member, she wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday.
“
My youngest son tested positive for Covid-19 on February 1.
Since then, another member of our household has also contracted the virus;
so it was no big surprise when I tested positive last night
,” she wrote.

The 46-year-old head of government will self-isolate at home for at least five days, in line with national recommendations.
The subarctic island nation has averaged more than 2,000 daily Covid cases over the past four days, a record for this country.
However, hospitalizations remained stable.
With a population of 370,000, Iceland has recorded a total of 85,980 cases and 54 deaths linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the latest figures published on Friday.

From this Saturday, health restrictions are now lightened: increase in gauges for public gatherings, removal of restrictions for swimming pools and sports halls in particular, extension by one hour of the opening of bars, restaurants and nightclubs (until 'at 01:00).
The government plans to lift all measures at the end of the month.
