New hotel, new golf courses… In the Peloponnese, the Costa Navarino resort is multiplying initiatives to beautifully combine sport and relaxation. Guided tour.

An XXL resort

In the south-west of the Peloponnese, in Greece, this estate covers more than 1000 hectares and ten kilometers long.

It now offers two 5-star hotels linked to each other by several swimming pools and laid out like a small village, with its restaurants, shops, open-air cinema... The Westin, its 444 rooms and his

kid club

, is the ideal address for family holidays.

For a stay for two, we prefer The Romanos, its refined suites overlooking the sea or its private villas.

By the summer, the resort will open a third hotel, The W Costa Navarino, a link in the Marriott chain's W Escapes collection.

Along the bay, its 246 rooms are inspired by local architecture by combining wood and stone.

In terms of activities, there is plenty of choice here: spa, cycling, horse riding, sailing, tennis, squash, badminton, paddle...

The Olympus of Swing

With its two courses between the sea and the mountains - the Dunes Course, designed by Bernhard Langer, and the Bay Course, designed by Trent Jones Jr. -, Costa Navarino was already a very popular destination for golfers.

What can we say today, when two new 18-hole courses, designed by the Spanish champion José María Olazábal, have been added to this 5-star offer.

About ten kilometers from its elders, The Hill and The International Olympic Academy are planted on the cliffs above the bay of Navarino - site of the naval battle of Navarino, in 1827, which led to the independence of Greece.

Their fairways also slip between the mountains and the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea below.

They undulate like a wave in the middle of the 52,000 species of shrubs, flowers and other local herbs planted on the site.

From €148 to €300 the green fee.

An environmental model

Designed by Vassilis Constantakopoulos, a shipowner wishing to promote and preserve the heritage of his native region, this resort is distinguished by its exemplary eco-responsible attitude.

Sustainable management of water and energy, recycling program, preservation of fauna and flora, planting of thousands of olive trees… It multiplies initiatives in this direction.

On the green side, the courses have been sown with less water-intensive grass, the vegetation is treated with organic fertilizer, and watering is controlled by computer according to the weather.

On the new courses, a basin of 485,000 square meters has been created to meet the water needs of their 125 hectares.
