More than 30 ships of the fleet have left Sevastopol and Novorossiysk to carry out exercises in the framework of the large-scale exercises of the Russian Navy.
A statement issued today by the Media Support Department of the Black Sea Fleet and reported by RIA Novosti said that the warships and units of the coastal forces of the fleet headed to the naval training fields to start the first phase of the exercises, which are being conducted under the command of the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Igor Osipov.
The exercises are aimed at training the defense of the maritime coast of Crimea, the bases of the forces of the Black Sea Fleet, as well as the installations and locations of the country's economic sector, sea communication routes and maritime economic spheres against potential military threats from the supposed enemy.
During the exercises, the ships, warplanes and coastal forces of the fleet will carry out artillery and missile launches against naval, coastal and air targets.
The group of participating ships includes more than 30 warships, including frigates, patrol ships, small missile ships, missile boats, landing ships, small anti-submarine ships and mine-fighting ships.
According to the 2022 training plan of the Russian Armed Forces, a series of naval exercises are being conducted in various seas and oceans under the general supervision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevminov, in which more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 warplanes, 1,000 pieces of military equipment and about 10 thousand soldiers.
