The Central Bank of Afghanistan today criticized the US administration's plan to use half of its frozen assets and keep the other half under the pretext of financing humanitarian aid, describing this plan as unjust.

And Reuters news agency quoted the bank’s management as saying in a statement that it believes that the recent decision of the United States of America regarding the freezing of foreign currency assets, which amount to seven billion dollars, pending cases, including compensation cases, filed by relatives of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks, is unfair to the people of Afghanistan, explaining that its assets It was invested in the United States in accordance with international practices and is the property of the Afghan people.

The statement added that the bank would never accept the payment of Afghanistan's foreign exchange reserves in the name of compensation or humanitarian aid to others and wanted to reverse this decision and release all Afghanistan's foreign currency balances.

Washington froze Afghan assets after the Taliban seized power in August, while US administration officials claimed yesterday that they are working to ensure that the Afghan people benefit from the part that will be released, which is $3.5 billion.

It is noteworthy that the United States of America announced on August 30, 2021 the completion of the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan after twenty years of occupying this country under the pretext of the war on terrorism.
