The Israeli occupation intensifies the construction of settlement roads to link its settlements built on the lands of the occupied city of Jerusalem and those surrounding it, with the aim of imposing new facts on the ground, separating the city from its Palestinian surroundings, and changing its Arab identity and character.

The National Office for Defending Land and Resisting Settlements of the Palestine Liberation Organization stated in a report that the occupation authorities announced a series of plans to establish settlement roads linking the settlements surrounding Jerusalem with those built on its lands.

The report indicated that among those plans is a road that extends from the town of Jabal Mukaber to the Ain al-Lawzeh neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and from there to the center of occupied Jerusalem, with the aim of facilitating settlers’ incursions into the mosque. Beit Hanina in the center of Jerusalem, as it will build a road extending from a settlement established in the far north of Jerusalem to the south of the city at the village of Al Malha.

The report pointed out that the occupation announced a plan to establish 5250 new settlement units on an area of 840 dunums of the lands of the hills southwest of occupied Jerusalem.

The report stated that the occupation forced two Palestinian families to demolish their homes in the town of Sur Baher in Jerusalem and handed demolition notices on dozens of commercial establishments in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood of the city.

The occupation expands settlements throughout the West Bank, as it seized 48,700 dunams of Palestinian lands between Bethlehem and the outskirts of the Dead Sea in the villages of Kisan, Teqou’, Rashaida and Janata, while razing 2,500 dunams of Tarqumiya town lands in Hebron to expand a settlement built on the town’s lands, according to the report.

The report indicated that the settlers continue their attacks on the cities and towns of the West Bank under the protection of the occupation forces, as they stormed the Tel Rumeida neighborhood in the center of Hebron and tried to burn a number of houses, but the Palestinians managed to put out the fires. They also bulldozed areas of Palestinian lands in the towns of Gourish, Majdal Bani Fadel and Aqraba, south of Nablus, and uprooted more than 200 plantations of olives and grapes in the towns of Bruqin, Yasouf, and Kafr ad-Dik in Salfit.
