Alexander Zias, 24, came to Israel from Greece as part of a student exchange program - but already upon his landing he met the "beautiful Israeli."

On his way to the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, a taxi driver asked him for an inflated payment of about NIS 700 for a ride from the airport, and the apartment he rented online for NIS 1,600 in Tel Aviv did not exist in reality.

Zias, originally from Crete, landed at Ben Gurion Airport on Wednesday ahead of his studies at HIT College in Holon. At the end of the trip, the taxi driver showed me the meter at a cost of NIS 689.

I was shocked.

I asked several times if that was the price and he replied yes.

I paid him NIS 700 in cash, and he said he had no surplus to give me. "

Following the case, first published by Michal Raz Haimovich in Globes, he decided to contact the police - but that did not end his problems.

"I booked an apartment on Airbnb on Mesilat Yasharim Street in Tel Aviv for NIS 1,600. I went to see the apartment the day before the conclusion I entered. I arrived at the place, and to my surprise it turned out that the apartment did not exist and was closed. "The owner of the apartment. We called him, and he replied that the apartment was not relevant for rent and it appeared by mistake in the databases on the website."

According to Rafael Rose, owner of Nino Vacation Property Management and a member of the Association of Short-Term Apartment Operators in Israel, "Such a bite is not possible because the money from Airbnb reaches the host only 24 after check-in. Thus, if there is a problem with the apartment - Airbnb returns The guest will receive the money or find a solution. In any case, the landlord will not receive a shekel. All this on the assumption that the guest only worked through the Airbnb website and did not bypass them to make the reservation. Therefore, in practice there was no sting. He himself tried to 'sting' Irbenev by bypassing them. "
