Britain's defense minister today (Sunday) compared the West's diplomatic efforts to prevent Russia from invading Ukraine to reconcile with Germany on the eve of World War II.
This is in light of the growing fear in the West of an imminent war, despite Moscow's denials and Kiev's calming attempts.
"There is a sense of Munich in the air," British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said in an interview with the Times, referring to the controversial conference held in the city in 1938, at which Adolf Hitler received Western consent to annex parts of Czechoslovakia in hopes of preventing war in Europe. - To no avail.
He warned that there was a "high probability" of a Russian attack at any moment.

Ukraine, for its part, is making an effort to avoid public intimidation and is ignoring warnings from the United States, Britain and other countries that Russia may invade its territory within a few days.
An adviser to the President of Ukraine said that Kiev does not want a point in closing its airspace.
"It made sense again, and in my opinion, it's a kind of partial siege," said Councilor Mikhail Podolyak.
The United States announced yesterday that it was reducing its diplomatic activity in the country, leaving a small team in the western city of Lvov, near the border with Poland.
