Clashes between Jews and Arabs in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem resumed this evening (Sunday).
So far, 8 suspects involved in incidents of violence have been arrested since this morning.
Among the detainees were six Jews, including two who allegedly sprayed passers-by with pepper spray, and other suspects who were arrested after allegedly throwing stones and bottles.
Two Arabs were arrested for "wild driving".
Dozens of policemen from the Jerusalem district, as well as border police, are operating there using means to disperse demonstrations.
Clashes broke out this morning after MK Itamar Ben Gvir set up a temporary "bureau" in the neighborhood, and large police forces arrived to secure the incidental bureau.
Hamas spokesman in Jerusalem, Muhammad Hamada, warned that the opening of Ben Gvir's bureau in Sheikh Jarrah was a "game of fire that could move the area."
He called on the Palestinians to support the struggle of the residents of the neighborhood.
Islamic Jihad also threatened and warned of an "explosion of the situation" in light of the "continuation of attacks" against Sheikh Jarrah residents.
In addition, according to a report on the Lebanese al-Mayadin channel, Hamas sent a message to Egypt that the events in Sheikh Jarrah were a "dangerous escalation" that he could not remain silent about.

Ben Gvir set up the temporary bureau on the spot in protest of what he defined as "the incompetence of the police and the abandonment of the security of the residents," in the face of the arson of a house inhabited by a Jewish family, allegedly on nationalist grounds.
Yesterday, several right-wing activists arrived at the home of a resident of the house, Tal Yoshiev, and upon their arrival, dozens of young Arabs gathered there, some of whom were attacked with tear gas.
The Jewish residents in the neighborhood reported throwing stones at the houses.
Five people were arrested.
