The winning streak of WWK Volleys Herrsching in the second round of the Bundesliga has come to an end.

On Saturday, the Ammersee team lost 3-1 at SVG Lüneburg (19:25, 25:14, 16:25, 21:25).

Herrsching

– With the 3-1 win over Herrsching, the North Germans not only managed to take revenge for the 0-3 defeat in the previous week, they also took first place in the group and fifth overall place from coach Stefan Hübner’s team .

Two games before the end of the intermediate round, Lüneburg have 17 points, followed by Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen with xx and WWK Volleys Herrsching with eleven points.

The Netzhoppers won 3:x against the defeated Helios Grizzly Giesen on Sunday.

A trip to the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg is worthless for the volleyball players in Herrsching.

In the tenth attempt in Herrsching's Bundesliga history since 2014, Max Hauser's protégés left the stage as losers at the "LüneHühnen".

Herrschinger only won once against the North Germans - the game took place in February 2020 in the Hamburg CU Arena.

Max Hauser looked visibly depressed after the first defeat in the calendar year 2022. "Unfortunately, that wasn't a particularly good game from us, especially in attack," summed up the Herrsching trainer.

His Lüneburg colleague Stefan Hübner, on the other hand, was pleased that "we have taken another step in the right direction".

Jordan Ewert, who was last rested, played for the hosts.

And the VBL top scorer delivered a great game.

With 16 points, the American played a key role in the victory.

The view of the Herrschinger starting lineup was a surprise.

Captain Tim Peter initially only sat on the bench, Jori Mantha played for him on the flank.

The Canadian played well (19 points) and secured the silver MVP medal.

Jordi Ramon, on the other hand, who was furious a week ago, had a rather used day and was replaced early.

In general, Hauser made more changes in this game than he had in a long time.

Only the two middle blockers Luuc van der Ent and Djordje Ilic played through.

However, there was no real alternative in this position with Iven Ferch (not yet ready for action after a dental operation).

The attack rate over the middle was disastrous, judged Hauser.

Ilic got 44, van der Ent a weak 23 percent.

"We didn't score any points on Diagonal either." Philipp Schumann scored 42 percent, after the first set the new signing from Haching was done.

Jonas Kaminski was allowed to play in the second and third set, but his success rate (30%) was even worse.

Hauser was only satisfied with the outside attackers (Jori Mantha 60%, Tim Peter 67%).

So he ordered Mantha to the diagonal position in the fourth set.

But even this tactical trick fizzled out because the hosts played as one.

The first and third rounds went clearly to Lüneburg at 19:25 and 16:25 respectively, the Herrschinger rebellion (25:14) was only a brief flare-up.

In the fourth round, things went back and forth for a long time, but the hosts didn't let themselves be thrown off course.

After exactly 100 minutes, Pearson Eshenko converted Lüneburg's second match point.

"Overall, we did a few things right," said Hauser.

The pressure on the serve was definitely there, the hosts only had a few good assumptions, but still used a proud 52 percent of these assumptions.
