Hong Kong's famous trainer, Kan Bingchi, passed away in the early hours of this morning at the age of 84.

Jian Bingchi is a legend in his life. He became a five-time Hong Kong champion trainer from a native of Sheung Shui. He has a daring style and is known as "Food Power Jane" and "Teeth Rubbing Trainer".

Jian Bingchi was born on November 24, 1937, a native of Chung Pak Long Village in Sheung Shui. He worked as a messenger, auxiliary policeman, junior clerk and mason of the Central Milk Company.
He immigrated to the UK in 1952 and worked in a Chinese restaurant near the Yesen Racecourse. Because of the proximity of the racecourse, he has a deep relationship with the people in the racecourse.
In 1962, he was invited by jockey Teith Tugan to work in the stable. He also served as a jockey and took a course in horse racing management. In 1969, he returned to Hong Kong as an assistant trainer, and followed Au Jinhong, Gao Shihe and Bin Shi successively.
In his 25-year training career, Jian Bingchi has won more than 840 top horses and achieved great results. He has also won the Hong Kong champion trainer for 5 times. Therefore, his well-known title is also related to horses. Because of his strength, he is called "Food Power Jane", "Tooth Rub Trainer", "Cup King", "Jane Sir" and so on.
After retiring in 2003, he left the Hong Kong racing ring where he had been famous for nearly 25 years and moved to Macau as a trainer.
Apart from horse racing, he has been active in politics and served as the chairman of the Sheung Shui Rural Committee for 15 years. He is now a permanent advisor to the New Territories Heung Yee Kuk. He also organized the New Territories Indigenous Residents Council, which is opposed to the New Territories Heung Yee Kuk, and ran for election to the Legislative Council. Lost.
Jian Bingchi has provoked many officials, including in 1988, he was accused of molesting a Filipino maid at home. The following year, he was convicted and fined 25,000 yuan by the court.
In March 2011, Kan Bingchi provided a sum of HK$130,000 to Liao Fushou, the owner of the village representative store, as an inducement for Liao to vote for the defendant in the election. Together with Hou Jinlin, a member of the North District of the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong, they were suspected by the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Sheung Shui Township. He was arrested for bribery in the election of the General Affairs Committee and was eventually sentenced to 12 months in prison. He was released from prison on April 10, 2014.
