Today, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett again called on Israelis to leave Ukraine immediately.
"We do not know what the developments will be in the coming days between Russia and Ukraine. Like the rest of the world, we hope that the tensions will end without escalation, but, our first duty is to take care of our citizens, the Israeli citizens. "The pace of flights to Israel is very high," Bennett said at the beginning of the cabinet meeting.
"I call here again, for Israelis in Ukraine - return home. Do not take unnecessary risks. Do not wait for a situation where you will very much want to return, and it will be impossible. Take responsibility for your life, get out of Ukraine as quickly as possible and come home."
According to a senior Foreign Ministry official, the ministry's consular division will reinforce the Kiev consular section with workers, who will be dispatched from the country to respond to emergency calls from Israelis with an emphasis on issuing passports and travel documents.
He further said that they are in touch with the Jewish community.
In Ukraine there are about 150-200 thousand Jews in the country.
In addition, there are between ten thousand and 15,000 Israelis in the country.
4,500 Israelis have already registered at the embassy.
A senior Foreign Ministry official said that this was not a rescue list but a contact list, through which it would be possible to maintain contact with the Israelis.
