As for whether it is suitable to hold the chief executive election, he said that "there is no answer" for the time being, but if someone proposes to him whether the election can be postponed, "I think my immediate response will be considered worth considering."
However, he emphasized his understanding of the Basic Law and cannot postpone the election of the chief executive until next year unless the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress makes a special decision to amend the provisions of the Basic Law.
When asked whether it would be feasible to let Lam Cheng be re-elected first and then re-elected, Tang Jiahua, who is Lam Cheng's think tank, said "I don't dare to say it." The re-election was also explained at the time.
