In the context of the war of ethnic cleansing and demographic change targeting the occupied city of Jerusalem, the Israeli occupation and its settlers continue to escalate their aggressive practices against the Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the latest of which was the settlers storming the neighborhood and harassing its residents.
The storming of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which started yesterday and continues today, resulted in the injury of 29 Palestinians, including children and paramedics, and the arrest of 12 as a preliminary result, as a result of the settlers’ assault on the neighborhood’s residents, in an attempt to expel them from their land and change the historical, legal and demographic reality of the Holy City and completely separate it from its Palestinian surroundings.
The attacks of the settlers, which are carried out under the protection of the occupation forces, received condemning Palestinian reactions, as the Palestinian presidency warned of the repercussions of what is happening in Jerusalem, especially in Sheikh Jarrah, from violations and attacks on the Palestinians and their property. And its settlers constitute a violation of the resolutions of international legitimacy and constitute a challenge to the international community.
Abu Rudeineh called on the international community to intervene urgently to protect the Palestinian people from the arrogance of the occupation and its settlers and to stop their racist crimes against the Palestinians aimed at Judaizing the Holy City and seizing the homes of Palestinians there.
In turn, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the continuous barbaric attacks of the occupation against Palestinian lands, properties and holy sites in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are a flagrant violation of international law, calling on the international community and its organizations to assume their responsibilities towards the Palestinian people.
At a time when the international community is silent, the occupation and its settlers escalate the demolition of Palestinian homes and real estate in occupied Jerusalem and the perpetration of brutal crimes against them that amount to war crimes under international humanitarian law.
