Denklingen – Around 500 signatures came together at the second attempt for the citizens' initiative against further massive development in the district on Bahnhofstrasse.

The initiators are pushing for either single-family homes or buildings with a maximum of six apartments to be built on the 2,000 square meter plot that is still free.

In the meantime, the list has been handed over to Mayor Andreas Braunegger in the town hall.

Anita Gropp, Gabi and Manfred Gayer, Werner Dacher and Andreas Frieß collected the signatures for the citizens' initiative within 14 days.

The response was even greater than the first time when 360 Denklinger, Epfacher and Dienhausener put their names on the list.

Ten percent of the approximately 2,200 eligible voters in the entire community are required for a referendum.

Formal criteria and errors in wording were the reason why Denklingen's council members declared the citizens' initiative inadmissible in December.

This time, five fellow combatants were deployed, and the procedure was "systematic", says Anita Gropp when asked.

"It's not against a Mr. Friebe," emphasizes Gropp.

The central point is a compatible development.

Christian Friebe is the investor who has already built 56 apartments in four complexes on the former Schelkle site and has submitted a building application for two apartment buildings with 24 apartments for the adjacent property (formerly Eggersdorfer).

This request was rejected in the municipal council in December - also under the impression of the citizens' initiative.

The new signatures on the citizens' petition will probably be dealt with in the municipal council at the beginning of March.

Then the committee has to decide again on the admissibility.

A rejection will be difficult this time;

the question is formulated in a long sentence, but the district is named differently than the first time.

The question reads: "Are you in favor of the municipality of Denklingen for the district resulting from the following streets Bahnhofstrasse/Bischof-Müller-Strasse/Buchweg/Industriestrasse initiating a land use plan procedure with the aim that only single-family houses/multi-family houses are newly built there for residential purposes, that comply with certain regulations?”

The criteria for the development are: First, one residential unit may be built per 225 square meters of land.

Secondly, the number of floor areas must not exceed 0.6;

only six apartments may be built per building.
