The six plane trees were formative for the Sauerlacher Straße.
Now they have been felled because the road is being expanded.
Some Wolfratshauser protested.
Wolfratshausen – The planned felling of the six plane trees on Sauerlacher Straße caused a stir when the building committee approved the measure two years ago.
At that time, some residents mobilized against what they saw as unnecessary felling.
Facts were created on Wednesday evening – much to the annoyance of some residents, who initiated a protest at short notice.

Wolfratshausen: Environmental protest was unsuccessful - felled six trees on Sauerlacher Straße
As reported, the background to the felling is the development of the so-called Kraft area next to the S-Bahn station.
When planning for the property began, the investor assumed that a 6,000 square meter retail area would be created there.
Among other things, he wanted to set up a sports shop and an electronics store.
At the time, it was clear that a third lane would be needed on Sauerlacher Strasse for the additional volume of traffic, and trees would have to go for this.

The city council's building committee also stuck to this decision when it became clear that only a grocery store with a significantly smaller sales area of around 2000 square meters should be built.
Environmentalists outraged: felled six healthy trees for road expansion
This is incomprehensible to the resident and initiator of the protest, Petra Buziol.
"One can assume that the volume of traffic will be significantly lower than originally thought," she explained to our newspaper during the demonstration.
"The trees could stay." She would have liked to have protested on a larger scale.
Because far more than six environmentalists were never on Sauerlacher Strasse on Wednesday.

The problem: Buziol had "only found out by chance and at short notice when the trees would be felled".
It was clear to her that her commitment would not change the result, "but we wanted to express our displeasure.
Many people stopped and told us that they also rejected it.”
After tree felling: Replacement plantings are planned
As town hall chief Klaus Heilinglechner announced in the building committee on Wednesday evening, replacement plantings for the six trees are planned at a different location.
The felling has now been made because from March no more bushes and trees may be felled to protect birds.
