The Schlager scene mourns the loss of a singer who looked back on an eventful life - she also lived in Munich for a long time.

Sofia – Mourning for Nora Nova: The hit singer and Eurovision Song Contest participant died at the age of 93.

Schlager singer Nora Nova is dead – she represented Germany at the ESC

Ahinora Kumanova, her real name, was the first Bulgarian to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest.

But not for her home country: she competed for Germany in 1964.

Participation was unsuccessful: with 0 points, she ended up shared last place.

To this day, she still holds an unusual record with her contribution: "You get used to beauty so quickly" is the song with the longest title in the history of the competition.

The Schlager singer had already landed her biggest hit before: The song "Männer gibt's wie Sand am Meer" (later covered by the band Ideal) reached

number 20 in the German charts in 1963 according to the

official charts.de.

Her "You're so nice when you smile, Chéri" (see video below) also brought her success, with which she took fourth place at the German Schlager Festival in 1961.

, Kumanova managed to leave Bulgaria in 1960 after a marriage of convenience, she fled via the GDR to West Germany, where she became a hit star as Nora Nova.

But soon after she took part in the ESC, she left the music limelight: she lived in Wuppertal and Munich for a long time, where she opened fashion and antique shops.

She was also reportedly active in the hospitality industry.

Kumanova later moved back to Bulgaria and became involved in politics there.

Now the eventful life of the hit star has come to an end.
