The consumer price index published every year reflects the changes in the cost of living.

In Israel, in recent years the price level has been high in relation to the OECD countries, with a recent rise in prices with the announcement of the marketing chains' price increases.

Recent events have created a public outcry that has led ministers to promote a plan aimed at easing the cost of living.

One week ago, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman announced the measures that will be implemented under the program, including reducing taxes for working families, lowering tariffs on a variety of consumer products, lowering the price of electricity and reducing food taxes.

The plan has been criticized for claiming that its principles are good for parts of the public, while other parts of the nation will not be affected at all by the steps taken, but will be affected by the cost of living that no one will miss.
