There are a number of innovations this year for Hartz IV recipients.

Not only the standard rate has changed, the citizen's income is also casting its shadow.

Berlin - In the coalition agreement, the traffic light parties have announced a number of changes for their term of government.

The Hartz IV* system is also affected because it is to be reformed and given a new name.

But the first innovations that Hartz IV recipients should be happy about were already available at the start of the new year.

Hartz IV: These are the standard rates for 2022

In 2021 it was decided that the Hartz IV standard rates* would increase from January 1, 2022.

This is how much recipients now receive monthly.

single

449 euros

Couples in a need community

404 euros each

adults in institutions

360 euros

non-working adults under the age of 25 living in their parents' household

360 euros

Young people from 14 to 17 years

376 euros

Children from 6 to 13 years

311 euros

Children from 0 to 5 years

285 euros

In addition, access to Hartz IV* is even easier until the end of March 2022.

Therefore, the appropriateness of the housing costs and the asset test for new applications will be suspended until then.

Hartz IV: Registering unemployed online is now possible

With Hartz IV, however, it should soon be over.

Because the traffic light coalition wants to replace it with a so-called citizen money.

The coalition agreement states: "The citizen's income should respect the dignity of the individual, enable them to participate in society and be accessible digitally and easily." accessibility has been made.

Citizens can now register as unemployed online.

If you want to use this service, you need an ID card with an activated online ID function, an electronic residence permit, an eID card or an ID card from an EU or EEA country.

Anyone who cannot or does not want to use the online offer can still register as unemployed on site.

Citizens' money: That should change

But what else does the new government want to change with the citizen money?

Above all, it should make integration easier again, which is why integration measures should also be financially rewarded.

In addition, the SPD, Greens and FDP would like to increase the additional earnings limit and the protective assets.

In the first two years of receiving the citizen's allowance, the crediting of assets should also be suspended and the appropriateness of the housing costs should be recognised.

It is not yet known to what extent the standard rates will change with the introduction of citizen income.
