It was not until August that there was a near-collision on the S7 - not far from the point where there is now on February 14th.

Investigations into the cause of the accident were still ongoing in the evening.

– A moment of shock on Thursday evening on the train line near Wolfratshausen: near Icking, two S-Bahn trains almost collided with each other.

The two S7 trains converged on a single-track section at 9 p.m.

Because they were only allowed to drive slowly at this point, the two train drivers were able to react in good time.

The S-Bahn stopped around 150 meters in front of each other

According to the federal police, the passengers were never in any specific danger.

The police investigation must now show how the precarious situation could have come about.

S-Bahn Munich: two trains almost collided – the police determined

"Shortly before, there were probably people in the track area," explains Wolfgang Hauner, spokesman for the Federal Police in Munich, the events.

The train drivers were informed and should have slowed down accordingly.

It remains to be seen whether there was a misunderstanding during the radio agreements or whether a technical error in the signal box led to the two S-Bahn trains approaching each other on the track.

Deutsche Bahn confirmed the incident on request and has also initiated investigations.

According to the police, there were about 30 passengers on both trains at the time of the almost accident.
