Lawsuit filed against Alec Baldwin for fatal shooting

The tragic death of a camerawoman while shooting a film in the USA now has legal consequences.

The family of the dead also accuses actor Alec Baldwin of negligent behavior.

SANTA FE - Almost four months after Halyna Hutchins died while shooting a film with Hollywood star Alec Baldwin, the cinematographer's relatives have filed a lawsuit.

Baldwin and other film participants are accused of grossly negligent behavior.

The wrongful death lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Numerous precautions were violated during the shoot, attorney Brian Panish said at a press conference in Los Angeles.

The complaint has been submitted to the German Press Agency.

According to Panish, relatives are demanding undisclosed compensation after the "tragic loss" of the camerawoman.

A procedure with a jury should decide.

Hutchins is survived by a husband and a nine-year-old son.

In the incident during the shooting of the low-budget western "Rust" on a film ranch in Santa Fe, chief camerawoman Hutchins (42) was fatally injured on October 21 and director Joel Souza was hit in the shoulder.

Baldwin, who serves as lead actor and producer on the film, had operated the gun in rehearsal for one scene.

Investigations revealed that the Colt had a real bullet in it.

Police investigations into how this happened are ongoing.
