The police and public prosecutor's office in Regensburg are investigating a possible murder in a retirement home.

A nurse is under suspicion.

Update from February 15, 4:45 p.m .:

After the body of a woman was exhumed as part of an investigation against a 24-year-old nurse, the public prosecutor explained to the German Press Agency why the step was necessary.

"When the body was found, the accused and two other assistants were present, and he behaved extremely suspiciously," said the press spokesman for the public prosecutor's office, Thomas Rauscher.

However, it is completely open whether the woman whose body has now been dug up died an unnatural death at all, stressed Rauscher.

In contrast to the pillow attack, there is no urgent suspicion against the accused nurse in this case.

There are also no further inconsistencies in the other deaths, as Rauscher explained.

"The lady is the only case in which we are specifically investigating."

The criminal police and public prosecutor's office in Regensburg are currently investigating the suspicion.

The man is said to have tried to suffocate a man with a pillow in a care facility in the Cham district at the beginning of February, according to the Oberpfalz police headquarters.

A colleague noticed the incident, which is why the alleged perpetrator left the man.

Now the investigators want to clarify whether other seniors have been killed.

That is why the exhumation of a woman who died in the same facility in 2021 took place on Tuesday (February 15) in Furth im Wald (Cham district).

She should now be examined in forensic medicine, according to the police.

This points out “that in this further case there is currently no urgent suspicion against the accused nurse.

However, it is being examined whether there may be evidence of a previous crime".

The alleged perpetrator was initially taken into custody.

However, according to the police, there is a psychiatric opinion that suggests that the 24-year-old was not fully responsible.

"For this reason, the arrest warrant has now been converted into a temporary accommodation warrant and the accused has been taken to a Bavarian district hospital," the officials continue.

So far, the accused has not commented on the allegations.
