Prince Andrew of England and Virginia Giuffre, alleged victim of millionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, have reached an out-of-court settlement to settle the lawsuit Giuffre filed against the Duke of York for sexual abuse, according to a document filed with the court in Manhattan, New York.
The 38-year-old woman has spent a decade publicly accusing the third son of Elizabeth II, 61, of having raped her when she was a minor in meetings orchestrated by the New York tycoon.
The amount to be paid by Prince Andrew to Giuffre is confidential, the parties said in a joint statement.
The queen's son "intends to make a substantial donation" to the organization founded by the plaintiff, Victims Refuse Silence, which helps survivors of sexual abuse tell their story.
When Giuffre began to point out the aristocrat for the alleged abuses, only the yellow press echoed, but when the Epstein scandal was uncovered, things also rushed for him.
The accusations against the Duke of York, removed from public work in 2019 and stripped of his military titles and royal patronage last month, have triggered the worst image crisis of the British crown since the death of Princess Diana.
The agreement comes a few weeks before the scheduled court date for the Duke of York to answer questions from Giuffre's lawyers from the bench.
Giuffre's attorney, David Boies, said in a document filed in federal court in Manhattan that attorneys for both sides told the judge they had reached an agreement and would request a dismissal of the lawsuit within a month.
In the lawsuit filed last August, the woman accused Andres of sexually abusing her when she was under 18 at Epstein's mansion in Manhattan and on her private island, Little St. James, in the Virgin Islands.
