The pressure for the rapid construction of the Poing high school is increasing: the SPD has submitted an application for preliminary classes, a grandmother reports that the situation is "unacceptable".

Poing – Like the “Gymnasium Poing JETZT” interest group, the SPD district parliamentary group no longer wants to wait for the starting signal for a grammar school in Poing.

In an application now submitted to District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß (CSU), the SPD is demanding that the district examine the feasibility of precursor classes and “set up a schedule for the precursor classes, planning, construction and completion as well as the commissioning of the Poing Gymnasium”.

In addition, the district should show all feasible and sensible alternative proposals with all the advantages and disadvantages for the temporary accommodation of the students of the future Poing high school.

"These are in particular container solutions, rentals, conversions, class sizes, use of specialist rooms, expansion of locations, cost/benefit comparison, etc.," the application says.

As reported several times, the Ministry of Education’s approval for the construction of the Poing grammar school has been available since 2018, and the municipality itself has already made a plot of land available in the Lerchenwinkel development area.

For financial reasons (among other things because of the Corona crisis), the district council has put the project on a waiting list.

The start of construction was originally planned for 2022, with the completion and commissioning of the fifth high school in the district for September 2024. It is to be set up for around 1000 pupils.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

The interest group "Gymnasium Poing JETZT", which was founded last year, also calls for the project to be implemented quickly - if possible from the school year 2022/23 with precursor classes in a branch office in Poing.

The initiators Andrea Lacour, Veronika Neu and Martina Pillath recently expressed this demand during an appointment with District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß.

They also handed him the online petition they had started for a quick implementation of the Poing high school.

The petition was signed 1810 times.

432 students from Poing go to the Markt Schwaben high school

According to Peter Popp, director of the Franz-Marc-Gymnasium Markt Schwaben, 1346 students are currently attending the only grammar school in the north of the district.

432 of them come from Poing.

At the moment, according to Popp when asked by our newspaper about capacity, "some classrooms are empty".

The FMG was originally designed for 1250 students, but expansions have been made over the years.

Most recently in 2011/12 with part 5, according to Popp, where ten classrooms and a multi-purpose room are housed.

According to the director, in the near future the administrative district will have to tackle the refurbishment of the old building components.

The Gymnasium Markt Schwaben was founded in 1973.

Poing: Gymnasium still on the waiting list

At the end of October 2021, the district council decided to leave the construction of a new high school in Poing on the waiting list for the 2022 district budget for financial reasons.

For preparatory measures such as preliminary planning and feasibility studies, however, the district council has approved up to 1.35 million euros from budget remnants for this year.

The LSV committee of the district council will deal with the topic in March.

The SPD took this meeting as an opportunity to submit the application.

Grandmother criticizes "unbearable condition" for school promotion

In an e-mail to our editorial team, a grandmother from Poing drew attention to the transport situation for the school children who arrive in Poing at 1:19 p.m. on the S-Bahn from the direction of Erding or Markt Schwaben.

A whole stream of children and young people get off in Poing, but the district would not provide additional school buses like in the morning.

For example, the 464 bus in the direction of Poing-Nord is quickly full.

“The children stand face to face.

Corona says hello,” writes the grandmother, who does not want to read her name in the newspaper.

She speaks of an "unacceptable situation".

Poing: More students through new development areas

The district must at least provide reasonable transport if no new high school is built in the foreseeable future, the writer demands.

In particular, also with a view to the two future Poinger new development areas with living space for a total of around 4000 people.

It can be assumed that children and young people from there will also go to high school in Markt Schwaben - an additional burden for the already full buses and S-Bahn trains.
