The Syrian General Book Authority announced the launch of its five annual literary prizes for 2022, which include the Hanna Minh Awards for the novel, Sami Al-Droubi for translation into Arabic, and Omar Abu Risha for poetry, short story and child-oriented painting.
In an announcement that SANA received a copy of today, the commission indicated that the door to apply for these awards is open until the 30th of next July, and they are directed to Syrian writers and artists and Arabs residing in Syria.
The Hanna Minh Prize for Fiction aims to encourage competition to present the best fiction texts and discover new talents that have not taken their right to spread.
In appreciation of his great national and literary role and in gratitude for his leadership in Arabic poetry both aesthetically and intellectually, the poems presented in the Omar Abu Risha Prize for Poetry are required to be written in Standard Arabic.
The Sami Al-Droubi Award for Translation includes literature, art, science and human knowledge with the exception of topics of a specialized scientific nature. It is also required that the translated books of this award be from English, French and Russian languages, and that the participating work must not be translated or previously published, and the translation should be from the original language. It is also permissible to participate in only one work. .
As for the child-oriented story award, it comes according to the authority’s announcement to encourage competition to present the best story texts by children’s writers and to discover new talents, while leaving the freedom to choose the topic for the writer, taking into account that the story is directed to the category from 7 to 15 years, and that it carries modernity in the subject and subtraction and enhances psychological and social support For Syrian children at this stage.
It is also required that the number of words of the story range from 450 to 1200 words and not be published in any magazine or won any other award.
As for the Child Painting Award, which aims to compete to present the best paintings by children’s artists and discover new talents, the painting must be 50 x 70 cm in size, be executed in gouache or acrylic colors, be novel and innovative, and have a childish theme that expresses the world of young children. Paintings published electronically, participating in exhibitions, published in a magazine, or submitted to any award.
