Safety in conflict: The planned flood protection for Bergham using base elements along the 2010 state road could endanger road traffic.

So the process is now stalled.

The city of Miesbach has been dealing with flood protection in the districts of Bergham and Kleinthal for years.

While the more difficult case of Kleinthal will soon be resolved by the city council, the planning approval process for Bergham is now faltering.

Miesbach – The lap of honor in flood protection for the district of Kleinthal took time.

As reported, at the information event in October 2020, Miesbach's mayor Gerhard Braunmiller put the solution concept developed in 2019 to the test and set up a working group in which affected residents are also represented.

Now another solution concept is about to be completed.

The city council is expected to discuss the matter in March or April.

Until then, there are still a few points to be clarified.

On the one hand, the city of Miesbach is in property negotiations with some residents.

As reported, there is the idea of diverting the Floigerbach, which could flood the houses in the immediate vicinity in heavy rain, beforehand through piping to the south.

There it could flow together with the Thalerbach, later the Miesbach, into the planned retention basin in the southwest of the settlement.

But this requires the consent of the affected property owners.

Fear of the Floigerbach

The old solution provided for the Floigerbach to be re-piped and larger in its current course.

The principle would look like this: Hold back the Thalerbach in the basin and give the Floigerbach the right of way until its wave is through.

However, some residents of Floigerweg see a great danger in the surface water of the Floigerbach and therefore consider a diversion to be the safer solution.

Test with mobile elements in Kleinthal

As Braunmiller recently reported to the city council, the further procedure was also determined with the planning office SKI in the course of the working group meetings and on-site visits.

This also includes the construction of mobile damming elements, which are to be carried out by the volunteer fire brigade in an emergency.

A manufacturer of such elements will shortly be explaining the possibilities of his products at an on-site visit.

Frustration with mobile elements in Bergham

Mobile elements are also planned for Bergham.

According to Braunmiller, the planning approval procedure is currently underway at the district office, but the procedure has been delayed.

The reason: the Rosenheim State Building Authority has reservations about the small base wall on which, in an emergency, mobile elements are to be erected south of the St 2010 – also by the fire brigade.

"The question is to what extent this base wall could impair road traffic safety," explains the head of the building authority, Lutz Breitwieser.

The problem is not yet solved, it is being worked on.

It is currently not possible to foresee when and how flood protection can ultimately take place.
