"She wants to be Diana 2.0" – Duchess Meghan's secret mission

Meghan is said to have been extremely fond of the Royal Family and Princess Diana in particular when she was young.

This was revealed by an old friend of the Duchess.

MONTECITO - A former friend of the Duchess of Sussex has revealed that contrary to her earlier claims, Meghan, 40, did have a great deal of knowledge of the royal family before her marriage.

She is said to have been completely fascinated by the prospect of one day following in the footsteps of Princess Diana (36, † 1997).

Almost four years after the wedding of Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry (37), many royal fans are still convinced that the 40-year-old was targeting Queen Elizabeth's grandson (95) out of sheer calculation.

Even the fact that the two are now parents of two and always appear in love and harmonious when they go out together cannot dissuade critics from their doubts about Meghan's sincerity.

The former actress said in her exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey (68) last year that she didn't know what it meant to be part of the royal family before her relationship with Harry.

The Windsors were never part of her life.

However, an old friend of the Duchess has a completely different opinion.

As she explained to the "Daily Mail", Meghan used to be particularly enthusiastic about Princess Diana.

The author Andrew Morton (69) had already written in his 2018 biography about the Duchess of Sussex ("Meghan: A Hollywood Princess") that Meghan considered Lady Di a role model.

Ninaki Priddy, who grew up with Prince Harry's wife, could only confirm this in an interview.

"Meghan has always been fascinated by the royal family.

She wants to be Diana 2.0," she told the Daily Mail.

Meghan didn't become "Suddenly Princess", but at least she became a Duchess (symbol image).

The Duchess also owned a book about Princess Diana and, even during her relationship with her first husband Trevor Engelson (45), repeatedly emphasized that she absolutely wanted to travel to London and spend "at least a month".

"I wasn't shocked or surprised when I heard about Prince Harry.

I know she loved the Princess Diaries movies - movies about a commoner who becomes part of a royal family.

She was very excited about the idea," says Priddy.
