The productivity indicators of the wheat crop herald a good season as a result of the recent rains in most of the governorates, in parallel with the continuation of the process of distributing the second batch of nitrogen fertilizer to farmers, designated for winter crops until the end of this month.

Engineer Ahmed Hamidi, head of the Field Crops Department in the Plant Production Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture, indicated that the condition of the wheat crop is good, and no insect or fungal infections have been reported that affect the growth of the crop, and the process of selling fertilizer continues in the second phase to provide farmers' needs.

Hamidi said in a statement to SANA that 1161798 hectares of the wheat crop were planted in the current season out of the total planned amount of 1503068 hectares, with an implementation rate of 77 percent, of which 547,916 hectares were irrigated, with an implementation rate of 91 percent, and about 613,882 hectares of rainfed with an implementation rate of 68 percent, pointing out that the cultivated areas were distributed in a manner Basically, Al-Hasakah is first with about 324 thousand hectares, Aleppo with more than 264,000 hectares, then Raqqa with 190 thousand hectares, while the area in Daraa exceeded 93 thousand hectares, and in Deir ez-Zor it reached more than 72.5 thousand hectares.

Hamidi indicated that Lattakia governorate came first with an implementation rate of 194 percent, then Tartous with 107 percent, Daraa by 105 percent, the Damascus suburb with an implementation rate of 104, the Al-Ghab region by 99 percent, Homs by 95 percent and Hama by 91 percent, while the implementation rates in most of the remaining governorates exceeded 70 percent, pointing to The end of the wheat cultivation process in all governorates, except for the cold southern regions.

For his part, the head of the Agricultural Affairs Office of the General Union of Peasants, Muhammad Al-Khalif, indicated in a similar statement to the continuation of work and coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure the success of the agricultural production plan for the strategic and main crops for the current season, especially the wheat crop, by providing agricultural production requirements such as fertilizers, fuels and insecticides.

Al-Khalif pointed out that the amount of precipitation plays a key role in increasing the implementation rates of the agricultural plan and ensuring its success for the wheat crop, especially during the coming period, given that rain-fed agriculture constitutes the large percentage, especially in the governorates of Hasaka, Deir Ezzor, Raqqa and Aleppo countryside, calling for the need to speed up the rehabilitation of the affected government irrigation projects. As a result of terrorism and providing the necessary fuel for irrigation wells.

For his part, the Director of Daraa Agriculture, Engineer Bassam Al-Hashish, indicated that the rains are promising in this season, and their balanced distribution contributed to the implementation of the agricultural plan in the required form, especially strategic crops such as wheat and barley, where the areas exceeded the plan established for irrigated wheat, which amounted to 10900 hectares, exceeding the plan of 9257 hectares, while it amounted to wheat Baal 82,400 hectares of the planned origin of 80,000 hectares.

In Al-Hasakah Governorate, farmers finished the process of planting wheat, as the area planted with irrigated wheat reached 90,000 hectares, while the area planted with Ila reached about 234 thousand hectares.

Director of the Plant Production Department, Engineer Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA that the good rate of rain and snowfall that the governorate witnessed recently, especially in the first and second agricultural stability areas and the northern regions of the governorate contributed to the improvement in the growth of areas planted with wheat.

In Homs, Director of Agriculture, Younis Hamdan, explained that the area planted with the irrigated wheat crop amounted to more than 13,800 hectares, with an implementation rate of 114 percent, while in rain-fed agriculture, it exceeded 20,700 hectares, with an implementation rate of 86 percent.

For his part, Engineer Wafiq Zarouf, Director of Plant Wealth at the General Authority for the Management and Development of the Al-Ghab, explained that 48,132 hectares of wheat were planted in irrigated lands and 2893 hectares in rainfed lands, with an implementation rate of about 100 percent, pointing to the improvement in the reality of wheat cultivation within the lands of the Al-Ghab area as a result of the recent heavy rains. .

The areas planted with wheat in the lands of the Al-Ghab region amounted to about 46 thousand hectares of irrigated and rainfed crops during the last season.

A number of farmers in the governorates of Daraa, Al-Hasakah, Homs and Al-Ghab indicated that the uninterrupted successive rains reflected positively on the reality of agriculture and prompted the farmer to plant new areas to revive the hopes of the farmers, especially those who have rain-fed agricultural holdings and herald a good season if the rain continues during the coming period.

They pointed out the need to provide sufficient quantities of fertilizers and the necessary fuels to ensure the success of the agricultural process and to ease the financial burdens on farmers.
