The race for power that we thought was definitively buried with the thermal car is back on the agenda with the advent of electric technology.
Mobilizing an army of horses seems limitless with electric machines.
The only limit concerns the aptitude of the tires to transmit the power and the torque, which we know are available from the start, on the road.
While GT manufacturers are announcing delirious powers of up to 2,000 horsepower, the main players in the sports sedan market are not left out, placing the cursor between 400 and 700 hp.
Never seen!
Porsche even promises up to 761 hp and 1,020 Nm of torque with the Taycan Turbo S. In this muscle race, Mercedes has no intention of being left behind.
A matter of status and ego.
Through its sports division AMG, the firm with the star will offer a range of vitaminized electric cars.
After the EQS, it is the turn of its little sister EQE to benefit from the Affalterbach label.

What responsibility at the wheel of an “autonomous car”?
Mercedes EQE 53 4Matic+.
Mercedes-Benz AG – Communications & Marketing/Daimler AG
Not yet on the market, the EQE will be available in two AMG versions: 43 4Matic and 53 4Matic+.
Thanks to its two permanent magnet synchronous machines, the first is capable of displaying the same power as an AMG-GT, ie 476 hp for a torque of 858 Nm. The power delivered varies according to the driving modes.
In "rain" mode, the driver has only 50% of the power.
It gradually increases to reach 476 hp in Sport + and Race mode.
The 53 4Matic+ model works in the same way but adds an AMG Dynamic Plus Pack version increasing the power from 626 to 687 hp.
The torque climbs from 950 to 1,020 Nm. Performance is similar to that of a sports car with a 0 to 100 km/h covered in 4.2 seconds for the 43 and 3.5 s for the 53 (3, 3s with the pack),
which represents a feat for these 4.94 m sedans which weigh 2.5 tonnes on the scale.
The top speed is set at 210 and 220 km/h respectively (240 km/h with the pack).

As on the EQE, the AMG versions have a 90 kWh battery.
It operates on a voltage of 328 V and can accept up to 170 kW of charging power.
This is how Mercedes promises to recover 180 km of autonomy in 15 minutes of fast charging.
The range of the 43 varies from 462 to 533 km, that of the 53 from 444 to 518 km.
The running gear has been extensively revised to adapt to the increase in performance.
This is how the EQE AMGs receive rear-wheel steering.
The steering angle can reach 3.6 degrees.
Below 60 km/h, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels to improve the turning radius.
At speeds above 60 km/h, all four wheels steer in the same direction, benefiting agility and high-speed downforce changes.
