The nomination period for the chief executive election starts this Sunday (20th). Former DAB member and industrial and commercial property investor Hu Shiquan, who had twice announced his candidacy but failed to enter the gate, announced his candidacy again today (16th).
He said he has the advantage of uniting the citizens, and compared to other popular candidates, he has a group of young people to support him.
He said that he has not received any commitment from the election committee to support him. He described himself as diligent, capable and friendly. He believes that he can win and will meet with the election committee in the next few weeks.
The coexistence of criticism and disease causes society to lose the elderly
Hu Shiquan, 62, held a press conference with his wife and the election team today, with the election slogan "Unite the Citizens, Go Global".
He said that once elected, he will set an anti-epidemic target, requiring 95% of the population to be vaccinated.
He pointed out that the government should requisition or renovate more isolation facilities, so that all confirmed cases can be accommodated, and the chain of transmission should be cut off.
Hu Shiquan emphasized that Hong Kong must be "cleared", criticizing "coexistence with germs (viruses)" is a fallacy, and he believes that Hong Kong will lose many elderly people, emphasizing that China and Hong Kong people cherish the elderly.
He believes that the Hong Kong government alone cannot clear it, and must rely on the support of the central government.
Said the platform came from 'people close to the central government'
He claimed that his platform came from a senior commentator who was "close to the central government", but he did not disclose the identity of the person. He only said that after consulting with him for two hours, he agreed to rewrite his platform with the information provided by the person.
Hu Shiquan's policy platform has six major directions, including housing policy, medical policy, dependability for the elderly, prosperity and stability, patriotism, and growth.
