Two hurricane lows hit Germany in the coming days.
From Thursday night, the German Weather Service expects severe storm and hurricane gusts of up to 120 km/h.
Munich - It's getting stormy in Germany - two approaching hurricane lows are causing severe weather warnings in large parts of the country and "from Thursday night to Saturday there will be a full-fledged storm situation in Germany," said the German weather service on Wednesday.
Hurricane low "Ylenia" hits on Thursday night.
The next storm is already announced on Friday (February 18) in the night to Saturday.

The German Weather Service (DWD) expects severe gusts of wind of up to 100 km/h, sometimes also hurricane gusts of up to 120 km/h, especially in the north, in the east and in the middle of the country.
But the south should also get some gusts of wind.
There is also a risk of a storm surge on the North Sea and also in Hamburg.
Storm Warning: Building damage, uprooted trees, and flying objects

Branches can break off or whole trees can be uprooted.
Such a storm also affects the infrastructure and impairments in rail and road traffic can be expected.”
The German Weather Service warns of falling branches and uprooted trees.

The federal and state civil protection authorities also warn of the dangers of uprooted trees, falling roof tiles and objects flying around.
People should avoid being outdoors as much as possible.
A warning is given in particular before entering forests and parks.
“I believe that this series of storms could match the damage caused by 'Kyrill' in 2007 in northern, eastern and western Germany.

Hurricane lows hit Germany: School failure in NRW
In North Rhine-Westphalia, school will be canceled on Thursday (February 17) due to the announced storm.
This was announced by NRW School Minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) on Wednesday in the Düsseldorf state parliament.
Family Minister Joachim Stamp (FDP) appealed to all parents to look after their children at home on Thursday instead of sending them to daycare or day care.
According to the weather service, after the passage of the first hurricane "Ylenia" on Thursday afternoon and on Friday night, the weather should calm down temporarily before hurricane "Zeynep" approaches on Friday.
