The Minister of Finance, Avigdor Lieberman, today (Wednesday) signed a new order that imposes a purchase tax on liquid for filling electronic cigarettes.
The order stipulates that a liquid for filling e-cigarettes will be taxed at 243% of the common wholesale price plus NIS 7.34 per ml, which in any case will not be less than NIS 14.08 per ml.
The purchase tax rate on disposable cigarettes will continue to stand at 270% of the common wholesale price, plus NIS 8.16 per ml.

The tax authority said that the new order is intended to reflect the depreciation created during the filling process, when switching between different receptacles.
The order was also signed against the background of concerns raised about the alleged revocation of the previous order in the Knesset plenum last Monday.
This move follows on from previous moves, which compared the taxation on tobacco for heating and rolling tobacco to the taxation imposed on regular cigarettes, and reflects the desire for uniform taxation on all tobacco products.
