An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale rocked the Portuguese islands of Madeira today.
"The earthquake struck at a depth of 30 km, without information on human casualties or material losses," Reuters quoted the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center as saying in a statement.
It is noteworthy that Madeira is a large archipelago consisting of several islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean and northwest of the continent of Africa.
