A wave of dismay swept the country after a young police officer and her colleague were shot dead in Kusel.

The 24-year-old police officer will be buried on Wednesday.

Kusel/Homburg – The fact that two young police officers had to die so suddenly caused consternation throughout Germany – especially in police circles.

The police officer and her colleague were shot dead on Monday morning (01/31/2022) near Kusel in Rhineland-Palatinate.

After the 29-year-old chief inspector was buried in Freisen yesterday (February 15, 2022), the 24-year-old police candidate will receive her final escort in Homburg at 11 a.m. today.

The deceased police officer is buried in the Erbach district cemetery in Homburg.

According to the police college in Koblenz, the family will hold the funeral service behind closed doors.

A police honor guard is to accompany the ceremony, said the Saarland State Police Headquarters.

Other guests can follow the prayer via audio transmission in front of the funeral parlor.

This is followed by the urn burial in the Homburg-Erbach Cemetery.

State parliaments commemorate the police officers killed in Kusel: "We are all dismayed, shocked and deeply saddened"

The policewoman and her colleague were shot dead during a police check.

Allegedly by two men who wanted to cover up poaching.

The two 38 and 32-year-old suspects from Saarland were arrested on the day of the crime and have been in custody since then.

They face prison terms for murder and collective poaching.

Members of the state parliament in Saarbrücken commemorated the two police officers who were shot with a minute's silence.

State President Stephan Toscani said in a speech: "We are all dismayed, shocked and deeply saddened," reported the SWR.

The young people were "torn from their still young lives by an incomprehensible act of violence".

This afternoon, the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament will commemorate the two police officers killed near Kusel.
