Pressure is mounting from Republicans to bring the head of state down into the arena.
About fifty days before the first round of the ballot, Emmanuel Macron has still not officially announced his candidacy, but he already has 1,260 sponsorships from elected officials, allowing him to appear before the French on April 10.
A situation denounced by Christian Jacob.

In a letter sent this Wednesday to the Elders of the rue de Montpensier, the President of the Republicans stresses that a candidate "
must inform in writing
" to the Constitutional Council "
that he intends to compete in this election
", which is not still the case for the Head of State.
The LR deputy therefore says he is "
surprised
" that the sponsorships obtained by Emmanuel Macron are published, "
while the latter has not expressed, either in writing or orally, such an intention
".
“A way to ensure the promotion of a candidate”
The President of the Republicans therefore requests clarification on the "
legal basis
" behind the presentation of this "
candidate
", who does not yet consider himself as such and "
has not seen fit to inform his fellow citizens of his wish to seek a new mandate
.
According to Christian Jacob, “
this presentation constitutes a way of ensuring the promotion of only a potential candidate and thus creates a situation of inequality with the declared candidates
”.
In recent weeks, the Head of State has continued to deliberately maintain doubt about his intention to run for a second term, explaining that "
we will have to think about it
", and evoking a "
false suspense
" and a "
desire
".
However, the final list of candidates will only be finalized after the receipt of the last sponsorships from elected officials, on March 4.
The president could therefore make the suspense last for a while longer.
