Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) has complained that the federal and state governments have not reached an agreement on compulsory vaccination in the sector.
The federal government must find a practicable solution with the states, he said on Wednesday after the meeting of the state heads with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD): "I find it very regrettable that we have not been able to create an understanding here."
Dresden - It is not the job of the health authorities to pay for this matter.
In Saxony, a third of the employees in the health and care sector are not yet vaccinated, around 100,000 employees.
“The essence of this sectoral vaccination requirement is that these people should no longer work in this area”.
According to Kretschmer, Saxony will strengthen the health authorities of the districts and urban districts in this matter.
They would implement the federal law, but "with moderation and mean": "That means that the supply has the highest priority." You have to deal with the employees in such a way that they don't feel offended.
"These women and men have also experienced the most difficult things in the fight against the pandemic in the last two years." Respect also applies to this group of people.
"I don't want these women and men to have to live in great fear for their jobs and their future."
Kretschmer did not comment specifically on how the health authorities implement the sectoral vaccination requirement.
The Free State wants to publish a decree in the coming days.
According to Kretschmer, a general obligation to vaccinate will not be enforced against a large part of the population.
You have to take people with you on this issue and prepare such a duty in a legally clean manner.
"It's absolutely clear: without a vaccination register, you can't administer compulsory vaccination." The gossip about this point shows that it's not just about factual issues, but also about power issues.
"As long as the requirements for a general obligation to vaccinate have not been precisely clarified, there can be no such thing," says a note in the minutes of Saxony for the meeting.
In the note, Saxony also speaks out against the extensive abolition of the catalog of measures in the Infection Protection Act after March 19th.
The countries still needed a toolbox to remain able to act in an emergency, it said.

According to Kretschmer, the Saxon cabinet will decide on easing steps in the coming week.
This will probably affect the reduction in contact restrictions, especially for vaccinated people.
On the other hand, shopping should no longer be subject to conditions, apart from the FFP2 mask requirement.
The next step in terms of easing should then take place on March 4th, and the cabinet wants to decide on the key points next Tuesday.
