Natalie Geisenberger is back in Miesbach, and in her home town the pride in the successes of the six-time gold medalist can be felt in many ways.

A reception is currently being planned, which should take place in the near future.

Miesbach – Success in sport cannot be planned, and mega successes certainly cannot.

From this point of view, it is understandable that the city of Miesbach used the euphoria of the hour and endowed Natalie Geisenberger with honorary citizenship in January 2015 after she had won her first double gold in Sochi in February 2014.

In retrospect, it would have been the crowning glory for the record-breaking Winter Olympian.

Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller just shrugs his shoulders: "Who could have guessed something like that?

What Natalie has achieved is superlative.”

A reception for the six-time gold winner is a must - the only question is when the event should start.

"It has been agreed with SV Miesbach and our district administrator Olaf von Löwis that we will do something," reveals Braunmiller.

However, you still have to talk to Geisenberger about the appointment, and even that isn't that easy.

"Currently she has a lot of appointments so shortly after the victories."

The reception doesn't have to be geared towards speed, but it shouldn't take too long either.

"We'd like to do it as soon as possible," says Braunmiller, "not just in the summer." Summer temperatures have the advantage that the event can be moved outdoors more easily - ideally to the market square.

The advantages of this: More Miesbachers could take part, and the Corona rules would probably be a little looser.

Especially since it's supposed to be a bigger event.

What also justifies Geisenberger's success, as the mayor explains: "This success is extraordinary and we will probably never have anything like it again.

It carries the name Miesbach - both the city and the district - positively out into the world.

She is our figurehead.”

What impresses Braunmiller the most is Geisenberger's ability to concentrate and his high level of performance - "for over 15 years, during which she has been among the best in the world.

To be at the top for so long and to get the best performance at the right time - only very few can do it.

We are very proud of our honorary citizen.”
