The sharp jump in housing prices as presented last night (Tuesday) by the CBS once again reminded tens of thousands of young couples how difficult the task of buying an apartment in Israel is. And while apartment prices are rising, rents are rising, In the face of the cost of living. "We, and the generation behind us, remain in rent and the dream of our own apartment remains and will remain a dream," they lament.

"We would like to buy an apartment, but the prices are going up and we realized that the chances of buying in the city are going down," say Yonatan and Naomi Dror, parents of four children who rent an apartment in Jerusalem.

Both are independent, Naomi treats Chinese medicine and Jonathan is the CEO of Leaf of Life for natural products. In the past year a new baby was born in the family, and the apartment they live in became small for them. The two began looking for a bigger apartment, "It is difficult to find large apartments for rent in Jerusalem, and those in the market are very expensive and not worth the price.

We love the city, but the market is crazy, "Yonatan emphasizes.

Kelly Dan and Tal Azriel are 30-year-olds who rent an apartment in Tel Aviv, who testify to themselves that their quality of life is deteriorating as prices rise.

"Because of the market situation, we have to live in a less good area. The prices are sky-high and insane," they say.

"This state of trying to save leads to us giving up a lot of things: the proximity to the workplace, to the recreation areas, and everything to just be able to live."

According to them, although they earn a handsome salary in relation to their age group, they are required to live a limited lifestyle.

"We do not allow ourselves to live in a reasonable and luxurious apartment, rather we live just below our financial capacity to be able to save some money and move forward," they say.

Shlomi Kleiman, a resident of Ashkelon who recently managed to purchase an apartment through a price-per-tenant program, told about the daily economic struggle he is waging.

"In the meantime I pay rent in parallel with the mortgage, it's really hard for a young couple with a child. I teach math and study for a master's degree, my wife has a master's degree and memorization earns quite a bit. "Including water, property taxes and electricity. The expenses are large. The cost of living is eroding us. Prices have become so high that we are working endlessly to finance the apartment we bought."

Anna (pseudonym), a single mother from Zichron Yaacov for three adult children aged 23-18, tells Walla!

"It only emphasizes to me that I will never have a chance to buy my own house even in nearby communities. In Zichron Yaacov, the dream of buying a house has long been lost. There are no benefits for young people. It is a place for wealthy people only. It remains and will remain a dream, "she says.

Anna added that "the tenants suffer twice because the rent also goes up, so instead of saving, they spend more and more on a monthly rent or are forced to lower their standard of living. We rented a six-room house in the Givat Eden neighborhood for NIS 5,500." Shekels like that all of a sudden. It forced us to rent a smaller house, three rooms, in the center of the colony for NIS 4,000. But all the time there is always a threat of increases. "It meets the criteria. It seems that the government is not examining in depth what needs to be done. We have nothing to do - that's what it is. We will not go and steal."

Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics published last night show that apartment prices have completed an increase of 11.3% per year.
