Else Heinzelmann actually had nothing to do with sport.

She was never a member of ASV Biburg - or rather she only became one when she was made an honorary member.

Biburg - She didn't earn her place in the club's annals with top sporting performances, but with her big heart.

Now she died at the age of 86.

For many years, the club only owned half of the sports area in Mitterfeld.

He had leased the other half from Else Heinzelmann.

Every year a delegation rang at the former dressmaker's doorbell to deliver the lease.

"She always wanted the money in cash," remembers Thomas Rolli, a former cashier and now chairman.

Not that the woman from Biburg distrusted the banks.

Rather, she appreciated the exchange with the club representatives and was happy to be informed about the latest.

"She liked to chatter," says Rolli.

Most of the time, she took a portion of the lease and gave it back to the ASV workers as a donation for youth work.

As the landlady got older, the conversation kept coming back to the future: what would happen if Else Heinzelmann were no longer there one day?

The club hoped to be able to buy the site from her.

But the old lady had a better idea.

One day she sent a neighbor to the ASV board.

"What would you say if she gave you the site?" the envoy opened up to the astounded club representatives.

At first they thought it was a joke, but Else Heinzelmann was serious.

After her husband Lorenz died in October 2020, she wanted to get down to business, says her son Uwe.

The preparations dragged on for a while, but at some point they actually met at the notary's, where Else Heinzelmann signed over her part of the sports grounds to the club.

According to the statutes, the consent of the members had to be obtained, as is usual with real estate transactions - even in the case of a donation.

The general meeting in September 2021 was a memorable evening, because the appointment of Else Heinzelmann as an honorary member was also on the agenda.

The 86-year-old was very happy and made a lot of new acquaintances that evening.

Because many members, department heads and former board members went to her table to thank her personally.

"She really enjoyed the evening and stayed a long time," remembers Thomas Rolli.

Nobody would have thought that just a few months later, Else Heinzelmann would no longer be there.

In addition to her son, two granddaughters and the ASV, the flower and garden friends, to which the woman from Biburg belonged for a long time, are also mourning.
