Today, the United Nations called for an end to the arbitrary practices of the Israeli occupation against Palestinians, especially the demolition or displacement of their homes in the West Bank, including Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, in flagrant violation of international legitimacy resolutions.
In this regard, the spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said in a press conference held in New York and reported by Wafa Agency: “We are closely following the situation in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem, including the possibilities of evacuations.”
Dujarric added, "We continue to demand that the Israeli authorities put an end to the policy of demolishing Palestinian homes and evacuating Palestinian families, whether in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood or any other area of the occupied West Bank."
Dozens of Palestinian families in the neighborhood are still facing the threat of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement from their homes, as settlers continue their attacks on the neighborhood under the protection of the occupation forces, which intensify their repressive measures against its residents in an attempt to displace them from it in the interest of colonial settlement plans.
