The classification of travel to Colombia according to the US.

In early 2022, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed Colombia's travel warning classification to Level 4 ("very high" risk of covid -19).

When a destination reaches Level 4, the CDC advises people to avoid traveling to that destination.

The situation in the main cities

Although the positive cases of covid-19 begin to decrease in Colombia, as in other parts of the world, some cities remain alert.

For example: Bogotá is on orange alert, this means that infections are on the rise and that public health services are limited.

For its part, Medellín reports a high occupancy of the Intensive Care Units (ICU), according to government data.

Requirements to enter Colombia

Non-resident foreigners over 18 years of age

will not be able to enter the country if they are not vaccinated against covid-19, according to guidelines indicated by the Government of Colombia.

In the case of having an incomplete vaccination schedule or if the last dose was administered less than 14 days before arrival in the country, a negative PCR valid for 72 hours must be presented.

Colombians, foreign residents and diplomats

must present an electronic and physical certificate with a complete vaccination schedule (the last dose must have been administered at least 14 days before entering the country) or present a negative PCR test valid for 72 hours. .

The vaccines accepted by the Colombian government are those that are authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The vaccination certificate must be shown when checking in with the airline and when going through Immigration.

This must have the following information: names and surnames of the holder, type and number of identity document, name of the vaccine applied, date of each dose and number of doses administered.

Both nationals and foreigners must pre-register migration 72 hours before their trip.

What can visitors expect?

There are currently no national intercity travel bans, but regional and municipal governments may impose restrictions on a case-by-case basis.

For their part, commercial establishments and other economic activities are open, but biosecurity measures such as the use of masks (in Colombia they are called face masks), social distancing, hand washing and ventilation, are still in force.

People who present symptoms of covid-19 should call the national line 01 800 09 55 590 or from a cell phone to 192 to receive information from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

There are no curfews due to covid-19 in Colombia.

How has covid-19 evolved in Colombia?

Until February 15, 2022, Colombia has registered just over 6 million infections and more than 137,000 deaths from covid-19, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.

At least 63% of the population is fully vaccinated, according to data from Our World In Data, and 16% have received a booster dose.
