Two of Turkey's senior advisers - spokesman and adviser Ibrahim Kline, and Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal - will hold a series of meetings in Israel today (Thursday).

This is the first visit by senior Turkish officials to Israel in a decade.

The two arrived in Israel as part of preparations for the planned visit of President Yitzhak Herzog to Turkey.

According to reports in Ankara, the visit is expected to take place in less than a month.

Turkish officials will meet with Foreign Ministry Director General Alon Ushpiz, Presidential Director General Eyal Shuiki, and senior Foreign Ministry and Presidential officials.

Yesterday, the two met with representatives of the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah.

In talks in Israel, the parties are expected to summarize what concrete steps Turkey will take in the process of warming relations with Israel.

Among the options in question: the return of the ambassadors of the two countries to Tel Aviv and Ankara;

A visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Israel, following Herzog's visit to Turkey;

Intelligence collaborations;

And joint export of energy to Europe from gas wells in the eastern Mediterranean.

According to reports in Turkey, Herzog is expected to visit the country during the first half of March.

Earlier, Herzog would leave for Athens, to convey to the Greek government the message that rapprochement with Turkey will not come at the expense of the close alliance that Israel has with it and with Cyprus.

In Israel, the words of former senior officials who warned of an Israeli approach to Turkey without receiving sufficient compensation were quoted.

On Tuesday, we reported on an Israeli political body that confirmed that Turkey had increased its activities against anti-Israel terrorist elements.

"We are seeing an increase in Turkish counter-terrorism activity in our contexts," he said.

However, he refused to confirm the report published yesterday in Turkey, according to which it had decided to expel ten senior Hamas figures from its territory.

According to the political source, "no such condition was created, but the progress against the Turks is very careful and considered."

A political source told Israel Today that the rapprochement with Turkey, if it did happen, would not come at the expense of Greece and Cyprus.

"They are much more eager than us," he said, adding: "Israel will not be easy to achieve," he said.

According to the source, the settlement of the relations should be done "in a measured manner, and in no way at the expense of Greece and Cyprus".
