We tried the new Burrow brand mattress and this is what we thought

Burrow enters the memory foam mattress competition and launches two options that will leave you sleeping fresh and very comfortable.

The Burrow brand is best known for its virtually indestructible sofas, which we're already fans of, that mix practicality (scratch- and stain-resistant fabric) and style.

And now released a variety of furniture and mattresses.

Could the brand's signature style and quality really translate to mattresses?

We gave it a try and tried it out.

Burrow Mattress Options

Burrow's first foray into the bedroom came with just two mattress options to choose from: the Lyric All-Foam mattress and the Lyric Hybrid mattress.

Burrow Lyric All-Foam Mattress

The Lyric All-Foam is, as its name suggests, made entirely of foam, but of different types.

Beneath the breathable shell is gel-infused foam that's meant to keep you cool, then a layer of memory foam, and then a firmer base foam at the bottom that gives you that little bit of extra support, while also allowing you to Sink into that mattress a bit, but not so dramatically that you feel like you're going to hit the ground.

The Lyric Hybrid mattress gives a little more true support for those looking for a firmer option.

While it has all the different types of cooling foam that the Lyric Foam has, it does have extra springs inside for an extra boost of support.

I decided that the Lyric All-Foam was for me.

Burrow Mattress First Impressions

I live in a studio so naturally I was worried about how this mattress was going to arrive.

To my excitement, it was in a completely manageable sized box.

As with Burrow's furniture, I could easily slide the box up the stairs to my house.

Opening it up, I discovered that the mattress was folded into a roll, and all I really had to do was keep unrolling the plastic.

I let it expand for about 2 hours (there was no weird plastic smell that can come from many new mattresses) before I put it on the base.

But because Burrow is Burrow, there was a little trick.

On the sides of the mattress, there are banded pockets that you can use to lift and move the mattress.

That's right, no more squeezing weird memory foam or a loose polyester cover.

Instead, there are two hidden risers on each side, so it would be exceptionally easy for two people, but it really made my job easier.

We are going to need more mattress brands to implement this please.

Once I was on my base, I realized how cool to the touch the mattress really was, which was exactly what I was looking for.

Sleep on a Burrow mattress

So here's where it gets a little weird: Because of the special gel-infused foam, you don't feel like you're sinking into the mattress, but actually floating.

This was by design, according to the company.

I wanted to provide a zero gravity feeling when you sleep, and I have to say I felt it right away.

I move around a lot in my sleep and no matter the position (back, side, stomach), I felt like the mattress held me where I needed it to be.

The mattress already proved to be much cooler than I even anticipated.

Even with lots and lots of blankets on, I haven't broken a sweat, which is something I routinely did in December when I was using another mattress.

I really can't imagine how nice it will be in the summer when I hope I don't have to sleep with just a slightly damp sheet ever again.

So far in my few weeks of owning the mattress, I haven't felt any back pain either, which I was dealing with from my previous mattress which was all memory foam with no real base of support.

While the price was a bit of a shock to me, judging by the overall quality of the mattress, from the fabrics and stitching to the overall feel, it's a piece I'll have for many years to come, and won't mind taking with me from place to place either. .
